It’s that Time(s) again! Our new Sunday Times Supplement to be precise. Let us take you behind the scenes on our latest shoot.
On this rare occasion we opted out of using models and embarked on a creative journey using pop-up paper and craft creations with Hattie Newman, Set Designer and Image Maker from London. Precision, timing and attention to detail are all key factors when working on a still life shoot. This, of course, is second nature to our talented still life photographer, Simon Vinall. He always says, “Patience is vital in getting each image picture-perfect”.
As with all shoots, the day began with a LOT of coffee followed by an early morning briefing, where we discussed and assessed the products, set designs and photographic ideas to make sure each shot was coming together nicely. We were blown away with Hattie’s props and even more in awe when we saw her at work with her scissors – a paper magician!
Prior to the shoot, we decided to focus on three holiday themes. All of which left us wanting to pack up our troubles and take a few days’ holiday.
The first of our still life shots was ‘Stay-cation’, inspired by picnics and Pimms and it came together like a ‘breath of fresh air’ – pardon the pun! The intricate hand-woven picnic rug complemented the gingham pumps perfectly and the strawberries looked good enough to eat!
Our creative travels continued with ‘City Break’, which was photo-ready with a realistic model camera and hand-made map all crafted out of paper. Ria, our talented in-house stylist, paired city-chic garments with accessories to turn heads as you turn yours to admire the beautiful city architecture.
The last but not least of our destination shots was ‘Beach & Sand’, featuring bold bikinis and totally incredible cardboard crustaceans. The still life shot of paper palm leaves and a 3D pineapple will leave you dreaming of desert islands and cocktails in the Indian Ocean.
After lunch, we shot the cover. This involved showcasing the most intricate cardboard suitcase with working hinges, gold buckles and lock. It was so realistic that it made us do a double-take.
We finished on a high, creating three beauty looks highlighting essential make-up, skin and body care products to take you effortlessly through your holiday, wherever you’re going.
