BrandAlley UK Blog Piece Re Give Change Make Change one year anniversary and reaching £25k raised

“You’ve raised over £25,000 for charity in a year – just by donating your change!”

By simply ticking the Give Change Make Change box at checkout,  to round- up your BrandAlley bargains, you’ve helped our charity partners reach people in need at home and across the world in many different ways. Denise, from Give Change Make Change HQ, will tell us how …

In June this year Great Ormond Street Hospital officially opened the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, which will eventually form the Mittal Children’s Medical Centre. It forms part of the hospital’s major redevelopment plan ensuring that critically ill children receive world-class care in 21st century facilities and allowing clinicians to treat up to 20% more patients and advance pioneering translational research programmes.

Your donations to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity have helped make this landmark building a reality – thank you!

The British Red Cross is not only a disaster response charity; they also work tirelessly in the fight against HIV. South Africa has around 5.6 million people currently living with HIV. In one province, KwaZulu-Natal, one in seven people aged over two years old is living with the disease.

The £6,250 that you’ve raised through Give Change Make Change for the British Red Cross could pay for 104 young volunteers in South Africa to become peer educators on HIV awareness and prevention, providing a vital role in the bid to prevent it spreading further.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is the world’s leading independent conservation body and have seen first-hand how the health and security of people, wildlife and the environment are all interlinked. An example of this is by providing the installation of 1,250 Improved Cooking Stoves for families in Nepal. “An improved cooking stove saves 20-30% of firewood. It also makes cooking faster”, says Kala Kanda Devi Rana, the local resource person for this initiative in the Kasarol village at Jhalari. As well as cooking faster and safer,  it saves women and children from respiratory diseases that often go hand in hand with the traditional way of cooking.

For Cancer Research UK, it’s been an exciting year. More people are beating cancer than ever before thanks to amazing advances in treatments and technologies.

One of the charity’s many lines of research focuses on rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of children’s cancer. It costs around £6,250 to run a study looking for molecules important in driving the growth of this tumour for four and a half months. This could lead to better treatments and more children surviving the disease in the future.

I hope this shows you what a difference a year can make and what a difference your small change makes – so please keep on rounding up when you shop with BrandAlley and know that your small change can really make a big difference to so many people.

Best
