We’re continuing to celebrate Buy British Day. Follow us as we uncover more about our British brands over the next few days, right here on our blog.
Next on our British-made list we chat to We Love Cushions to learn more about this quirky London-based homeware brand.
How would you describe who you are and what you do, to someone new to the brand?
We are a young and original cushion company that brings you a unique and comprehensive collection of affordable art cushions. We specialise in contemporary and heritage art, offering designs from internationally renowned collections such as the National Gallery, Takkoda’s Pets Rock, National Railway Museum, London Underground and new this autumn, the British Library and National Portrait Gallery
Where in Britain do you make your products, and why?
Our cushions are made here in our London workshop. This gives us greater flexibility to deliver what our customers want. All cushions are made to order and we pride ourselves on the quality of our print reproduction, excellent, easy to maintain fabrics and great service. We also offer a bespoke service with thousands of images to choose from.
Is there pressure to go abroad?
There is a constant pressure to reduce prices and producing abroad would be one way to reduce them. However we think that it is very important to make our cushions in the UK, and will continue to make this part of our proposition.
What, in your opinion, is the main difference between something British-made rather than manufactured abroad?
We sell designs by well-known British institutions and brands so we don’t really think it’s appropriate for these designs to be made into cushions outside the UK. The main difference is supplier and customer satisfaction is that the cushion sold or bought has helped the British economy in some small way, and for us is consistent with our business ethos.
