How would you describe who you are and what you do, to someone new to the brand?
Thompson London is a niche menswear brand known for its quirky, tongue-in-cheek designs with a twist of the classic and contemporary, boundless individuality and more than a nod to our British heritage. Designs are totally fashion forward and innately exciting, with each one telling its own story and being a real talking point. Where in Britain do you make your products, and why?
The majority of our products are made in our headquarters, which are based in Imperial Wharf, London SW6. We handpick the best materials to ensure we offer our customers the very best quality products possible.
Is there pressure to go abroad?
We are very lucky that we can produce everything in house. However, we do research abroad for innovative materials to use in the making of our jewellery.
What, in your opinion, is the main difference between something British-made rather than manufactured abroad?
For us, it’s the fact that our quality control is personally taken care of by Ariel Thompson, our CEO, and this ensures the best quality of production for each piece. We’re very proud of the fact that our jewellery is Thompson made by Thompson hands.
What’s your brand mantra?
Creating fashion-forward, young and playful jewellery for the man who wants to make a fashion statement.
What inspires your designs?
Ariel Thompson gets his inspiration from everywhere and nowhere; he always gets inspired when he least expects it. Nature and architecture often catch his eye as well works of art. History and different cultures of the world also inspire certain elements of our products.
What does being British mean to you?
Being recognised as a British brand means we are seen walking alongside some of the greatest designers of our era. And being based in London, we’re privileged to be in one of the fashion capitals of the world. Ariel Thompson’s ancestors were British, although he was born in South America. Having both cultures close to his heart gives him the opportunity to enrich his culture and creative inspiration.
