With summer time in full swing, most of you will be looking forward to a much needed summer holiday somewhere hot. That being said, it is important to make sure you are fully hydrated whilst being exposed to long periods of sunlight.
To keep the skin hydrated, make sure you drink plenty of water and apply a good moisturiser. Decleor have a fantastic selection of moisturisers and gels for the face, which will definitely help to replenish and rejuvenate your summer glow.
Exposing your skin to sunlight may also cause the skin to become dry and flaky – dead flakes trap the oil and bacteria that can cause spots. To prevent this ‘peeling’ effect, exfoliate gently with a peel or a scrub, but try and avoid doing it too often or harshly; that will make it worse.
Here are a few things to keep in mind whilst on your holiday:
– Avoid being in the sun when it is strongest in the middle of the day (11am-3pm)
– Protect your body with clothing. Also use a hat with a brim and preferably sunglasses
– The shade provides good protection from the sun and can reduce solar ultraviolet radiation by up to 50%.
– Use a sunscreen with a medium sun protection factor (SPF 15-25) or a high sun protection factor (at least SPF 30) to protect the skin covered by clothing.
– Don’t forget to reapply your sunscreen after swimming or towelling dry – one application won’t last all day, even if you are very careful with that first application or don’t go in the water.
– If you get sunburnt, you should let your skin rest and heal and stop exposing it to strong sunlight.
Have a good holiday!
