Nothing is quite so relaxing as a face mask. After the year we’ve had, sitting deep in the tub with candles flickering is the only way we want to spend our evenings.
As such, we’ve been having a good think about what constitutes a nice face mask (we put our time to excellent use.) Of course, it’s Lush that our thoughts initially drifted to, but in the bleak financial tundra of January, they don’t quite fit our budget. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite homemade masks, all crafted from things you might already have lying around
Breakfast Face Mash
Mash half a banana with a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of orange juice for a zingy mask appropriate for all skin types. Take this concoction from the breakfast bar to the bathroom and see how it works
Mexican Beer Facial
Put all that alcohol to good use: mix half a cup of beer (any kind will do) with an egg white and 2 teaspoons of fresh lime juice. Unlike inside your body, it’ll work wonders on your face.
Aspirin & Lemon Treatment
For those of you with acne, this packs a powerful punch. Blend 3-6 aspirin, the juice of one lemon, a sprinkle of baking powder and a teaspoon of warm honey for a concoction that acts as an ideal pimple blaster.
Cucumber Cooler
Peel a small (or half of a large) cucumber and puree it together with a teaspoon of honey, a tablespoon of oats and a teaspoon of aloe vera gel. Enjoy the pore-tightening results.
The Posh One
Victoria Beckham’s alleged go-to, simply mash avocado together with apricot for a slightly more decadent, though still all-natural, easily-sourced, mask.
After a massively tense 2016 and a stressful December, treat yourself to a soak in the bath with one of these miracle workers. Let us know which ones you try.
