Drop Everything and Watch These Halloween Films

The Babadook

Halloween is in a matter of mere weeks (if you haven’t already notice; there’s spooky stuff in every shop.) We can’t blame you if you don’t want to go out all night and wake up at 7 in the morning wondering what actually happened the night before. So, the next best thing is having a bit of a movie night with the scariest horror films you could imagine. Might be best to watch these with someone else though…

The Babadook

The Babadook

Now this might have been ruined as a horror film when the LGBT community found out that Netflix had wrongly categorised it as a queer film, leading to multiple memes of the “Babashook”, but it remains one of the great Halloween horror films.

The Shining

The Shining

A true horror classic, this is one of Stanley Kubrick’s most celebrated films. The Shining will stay with you for a while even after the credits roll.

The Ring (Japanese Version)

The Ring (Japanese Version)

This is possibly one of the scariest films we have ever witnessed. The Ring takes all the tropes of horror films and does away with it. If you’re able to find this version of the film, then strap in for a horror journey that’s gonna keep you up at night.

It Follows

It Follows

After having sex with her new boyfriend, a college student is pursued by a menacing creature intent on killing her—unless she can pass the “curse” along to someone else through sex.

Berlin Syndrome

Berlin Syndrome

About a young girl who travels to Berlin and meets a man who turns out to be a bit mental, controlling and just about everything you wouldn’t want someone to be. A psychological thriller for those who prefer storyline over gore.

Corpse Bride

Corpse Bride

Another stop-motion film from Tim Burton about a man who accidently marries a dead woman. Starring (who else?) Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter.

Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands

Probably one of the oddest plots to come into existence, yet Johnny Depp and Tim Burton make magic with this classic film. Who knew you could feel such emotion for a guy with scissors for hands?

Scream

Scream

THE film for a Halloween horror night. With so many spin offs and pop culture references coming from Scream, words are insufficient in expressing the influence that this film has had on the horror genre.

Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity

Depending on how scared of films you can get, this might be the one for you. Some will laugh at it, and others will be terrified.
