We don’t know about you, but we get a little tired of the city during summertime.

Yes, it’s great to sit on a rooftop terrace on a Saturday afternoon, friends by your side and cocktail in-hand. But sometimes, it’s nice to escape to a new scenery.

And when the warm weather calls, what better place to escape to than the seaside? The smell of sea salt, the crashing of waves, the delicious taste of fish and chips when the day’s done.

To help you choose which beach to visit this summer, we’ve put together this guide. It discusses five of our favourite UK beach destinations, and what fun there is to be had there. Enjoy!

Brighton

There’s nothing quite as nostalgic as a visit to Brighton beach. It offers some of the most memorable activities you enjoyed about the seaside as a child, and the best news is – they’re just as enjoyable now!

If you’re planning on visiting Brighton, be aware that it is a city, so is likely to still be a busy atmosphere. However, it’s still a great escape from London life, where you can enjoy rides and slot games on the Brighton Palace Pier, grab some traditional fish and chips on the beach and even dance the night away in the city’s beachfront bars.

Newquay

Nestling in the heart of Cornwall sits the glorious town of Newquay, home to one of the UK’s most beautiful coastlines. With miles of golden sand and unrivalled scenery, Newquay makes a great destination for couples, families and solo adventures.

Believe it or not, there are actually 12 (yes – 12!) beaches to explore in Newquay. Fistral beach is the most iconic, known for being one of the best surfing beaches in the UK. However, the others are fantastic for an adventure too, offering rock pools, coves and a tonne of restaurants and cafes nearby.

Scarborough

We’re heading further north for this one, to the historical county of Yorkshire. A family favourite, Scarborough is home to two fabulous beaches, with harbours, a Victorian promenade, and plenty opportunities for surfing.

The town itself has loads of fun-filled activities, including amusement rides, an open-air theatre and tours around the famous Scarborough Castle. Make sure you pick up some traditional Scarborough rock before you leave, too – it’s delicious!

Kynance Cove

No, your eyes are not deceiving you – Kynance Cove is in the UK! Also snuck away in Cornwall, this stunning cove boasts turquoise green water and fine white sand. The unique rock formations make Kynance Cove a photography hotspot, as well as a favourite for explorers.

Due to the unmanned beach and unpredictable tides, visits to Kynance Cove should be taken with caution. Make sure to visit at a low tide to keep things safe while experiencing the beauty it has to offer.

Camber Sands

Offering miles of unspoilt sand dunes, Camber Sands makes a dreamy summertime escape. This generally flat beach is located in East Sussex, just east of the historical town of Rye. It’s a huge hotspot for windsurfing and kite flying, and is one of the best for building sandcastles!

As this is a fairly unspoilt area, there’re only a few cafés and restaurants to visit in the surrounding areas. There’re not as many crowds, either – so it’s a great getaway if you’re looking for some peace and quiet.

So, there you have it – your next escape is sorted! Just don’t forget to bring us back a souvenir!
