Build your August wardrobe from the ground up
Sandals: they’re the holy grail of any girl’s summer wardrobe. And while last year’s focus was skinny straps, latticed leather and jellies, this year we’re all about comfort: moulded footbeds, foamy soles and breathable uppers.
We’re wanting to show you how to make the most of your sandals this summer, and how you absolutely don’t want to be buying a new pair for every occasion.
So, whether you’re heading on holiday, attending a summer wedding or simply looking for an excuse to show off your pedicure, it’s time to treat your feet to a pair of designer sandals. A pair that looks just as lovely on the beach as it does at your girly brunch.
Madrid Sandals, BIRKENSTOCK
BIRKENSTOCK’s Madrid model has been worn by sunseekers all over the world since 1963. It’s the original BIRKENSTOCK sandal, featuring a flexible cork sole, a super-soft leather strap and a footbed that moulds perfectly to the contours of your feet.
Madrid’s wonderfully simple design means it’ll go great with just about anything in your wardrobe, but if you’re choosing the black pair like the above, we’d recommend a classic linen shirt dress. And if you’re taking things from the beach to the bar, all you need to add are denim shorts and a pair of hoops. Underconsumption Core, I think the kids are calling it these days.
Eloise Sandals, FitFlop
FitFlop is another comfort specialist, building sandals, trainers and more footwear faves with unique feel-good technologies. Hiding behind Eloise’s trending espadrille flatform is a triple-layered, shock-absorbing midsole that delivers out-of-this-world comfort.
And although Eloise is a little more brunch than beach, it’s also very easy to style up or down. We found this beautiful dress from JETS that would look lovely with a cocktail in hand. If you’re wanting to keeping things more casual, opt for a white tee, a crochet cardi and some signature Levi’s® denim shorts.
You Paratay Sandals, Havaianas
Havaianas – does it really need an introduction? Well, in case you didn’t know – the Brazilian-born flipflop majesty has been around since 1962, creating sandals inspired by the Japanese Zori with an infusion of Brazilian summer.
Do not be swayed by the simplicity of this style – You Paratay is designed to fit seamlessly into a capsule summer wardrobe. If you’re looking for something a little fancier, we’ve more jazzier Havainas flip flops here, however, if you’re wanting a style that’s timeless and versatile, You Paratay is your pair – just team with a breezy linen co-ord and your favourite cross-body.
The Bay Sandals, Sam Edelman
Craving something with a little more je ne sais quoi? Sam Edelman is your man. Loved by Gigi, Kylie – and well, just about the whole of L.A., Edelman’s footwear is considered somewhat luxurious – and you can grab it with up to 60% off here at BrandAlley. Thank us later!
Combining the comfort of linen with glamorous embellishments, The Bay is truly the definition of “get you a girl that can both”. Wear this luxury sandal with a playsuit on everyday outings, or for days that require an essence of elegance, we’ve picked out this stunning midi dress from Solid & Striped.
Mallow Sandals, TOMS
This is not a drill – TOMS is back – and if you loved the brand as much as we did back in 2007, you’ll be awaiting its return with open arms. Although TOMS is more well-known for its signature cotton espadrilles, we’re also seeing a bunch of trend-led styles in the TOMS line-up this year, too. Enter: the Mallow sandals.
With supersized soles and a water-friendly upper (and let’s not forget the perfect shade of green), the Mallow sandals are a must for your next holiday. Make sure to slip them into your suitcase, alongside a black bikini for the beach and a white mini for the beach bar.
