Has it really only been 2 weeks?!
With the summer holidays in full swing, you may be slowly running out of ideas to keep them entertained. Have no fear – we’ve put together a list of London’s fun, family-friendly activities to see them through summer with a smile.
Small is Beautiful London: Miniature Art Exhibition, South Kensington
If you’re thinking an art exhibition won’t hold their attention for long, think again: Small is Beautiful is a huge hit with little ones. Currently popped-up in South Kensington, this display of tiny sculptures showcases whole civilisations made from confectionary, Lego, fruit and coloured pencils. Over 30 artists have worked their magic to provide kids (and adults!) with an immersive experience they’re sure to love telling their friends about. You can book tickets here!
Kids Summer Splash, Royal Victoria Dock
Ideal for when the sun’s out, Kids Summer Splash provides little ones with a fun – and free! – seaside experience. From 1 – 21 August, a huge lido will be built onto Royal Victoria Dock, where kids are free to swim in the water, build sandcastles, lounge on deck chairs and soak up the sunshine – on a day they’ll never forget!
Craft Workshops @ William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow
We all know British weather is highly unpredictable (even during the summer holidays!), so we made room for some indoor fun, too! The William Morris Gallery is holding a whole load of craft workshops during August, led by some of London’s most amazing artists and storytellers. The workshops are ideal for little ones that enjoy creative tasks and making new friends – you can check out the line-up here.
Horrible Histories Boat Tour, River Thames
Who said you can’t have fun while learning? The Horrible Histories: Terrible Thames boat tour sets sail at Tower Bridge Quay and travels down the Thames, with gruesome stories being told along the way! It’s a great opportunity for little ones to learn all about London’s history, including stories of Henry V111, Jack the Ripper and Julius Ceasar. All aboard!
Children’s Garden, Kew
Explore all the things plants need to grow inside Kew Gardens’ children’s area. Ideal for little nature lovers, the garden stretches to the size of 40 tennis courts, containing a water stream, blossom trees and a 200-year-old oak! It’s a great opportunity for kids to get some exercise whilst learning all about the beauty of nature. You can book a 60-minute session here!
We hope this article gave you some inspiration for your next day out! Stay tuned for more things to do in summertime in London.
