Guest post: Beauty expert, Lauren Naylor’s top tips on Christmas make-up

Beauty addict and go-to guru for the very latest beauty trends, Lauren Naylor is our guest blogger today. With a regular post in The Sun, and a feature writer for Sun WomanCloser, BrandAlley and Fabulous Magazine,  Lauren knows exactly what to wear this party season and has all the stylish beauty tips to help you look the part.         There’s no time like party season to experiment with metallics and sparkles – and thankfully this A/W, it’s totally on trend.

Glimmering Jewel tones will ensure its time for the ‘glitteratti’ to sparkle and shine. Think grown-up gypsy and bohemian babe, as strong statement metal accents make their way into our make-up bags. Make your eyes sizzle in pewters, ore and molten metals – and don’t be shy, no wallflowers need apply!

So the key shades? Earthy tones like desert rocks, sunset, sepia stains, weathered tans, pastoral plums – all rich, luxe semi-precious metallic jewel tones, then more metal shades like asphalt shades and pewter –  you’re bound to have them somewhere in one of your many palettes you received and overlooked last Christmas!

Urban Decay’s Naked Palette, £36, from Debenhams nationwide is packed with twelve gorgeous neutrals in sizzling gold, pewter and bronze shades. Bag it ladies – this will last you 2013 and beyond. I’ve used this palette for weddings through to big nights out – it’s a must-have for any make-up maven.

Delve into the bottom of your make-up bag. Little gems like your bronzer, highlighters and fake tan can double up as your earthy tones so there’s no need to splurge if you don’t have to. We’ve all got a Benefit Hoola kicking about somewhere, but if not they’re £26.45 from Boots.com.  It works as well on sculpting cheeks as it does teamed with a slick of vaseline for a dirty bronzed lid. Team with some glitter like Barry M’s fine glitter dust, £4.59 at Tescos, and you’ve got jewels and earthy tones going on – hot to trot!

Designer Michael Van Der Ham adorned his models with molten gold leaf in the inner corner of the eyes, and teamed with thick graphic liner – another big trend to hit A/W fashionista’s. While Alexandre Herchcovitch gave models statement thick molten gold eyes with soft peach/sepia undertones.

Scrumptious designer Badgley Mischka teamed sexy plum lips with gold rimmed eyes, and dirty bronze lids, while Barbara Bui kept youthful big brows, naked skin and lips and seriously sizzling metal pigment lids.

Sparkles don’t have to be big and brash – just a thin rim of gold glitter can make as much statement as gem adored lashes. I’m loving the Urbanista range of lashes aptly called ‘on the lash’ full of pretty jewels and strips of glitter for the ultimate disco diva, £4.99 each, http://www.clickhealthandbeauty.com/store/beauty/beauty_tools/on_the_lash_eyelashes/ Remember – don’t out-do the disco ball!
