One trend that we see time and time again across catwalks is print. It gets refreshed and revived season-on-season and yet many of us still get sweaty-palmed and slightly nauseous at the thought of mixing prints together.
It isn’t easy for everyone, so we’ve caught up with our ready-to-wear buyer and print-lover, Tilly, to find out how she does it so effortlessly.
There’s no one who loves a print more than I do! Animal print, polka dot, floral, stripe, abstract, to name just a few of the patterns I’m usually spotted in!
Print can be worn in so many ways and it isn’t something we should be scared of, especially when the sun is out.
Below you will see my tops tips for wearing prints throughout summer, be it at work, on holiday or at one of the many upcoming festivals.
TIP 1: START OFF SMALL
Summer is a great way to express yourself with print, however, we know it isn’t for everyone, so my first tip is to start off simple. This dress with a printed bow sash can get your print journey going.
If you’re still a little outside your comfort zone, another ideas is to start on holiday where you are likely to feel more at ease and perhaps more adventurous. For beach breaks, try this classic jersey stripe dress. Just add sandals and a beach bag and you’re good to go!
TIP 2: BUILDING IT UP
Take the next step and try these dark, French connection floral leggings. Prints don’t always have to be clashing so keep it easy and wear a dark bottom with tonal print and then stand out ‘up top’ by wearing a bright and vibrant blouse.

I would always suggest teaming a tonal, more neutral print with a bright blazer or statement shoe.

For work, keep it simple and comfortable. A flattering jersey dress is a great wardrobe staple. Take a look at these top picks from French Connection and Nougat.

TIP 3: BE BOLD
A festival is a great time to let your hair down and go wild! You can afford to be far more eclectic for this, so why not team a bright kimono with floral shorts and a bold vest?
