If you’re looking to inject some happiness into your day, pattern could be the answer. ‘Pattern can make you happy, without you even noticing’ reads the cover of the new book by Orla Kiely, the London based Irish designer who has built an entire empire around a passion for print.
This summer the fashion world is celebrating Orla Kiely’s extraordinary career with Orla Kiely, A Life in Pattern, the latest exhibition to grace The Fashion and Textile Museum in London and the BrandAlley’s Buying Team were lucky enough to receive an invite. The exhibition explores the evolution of the brand, from Orla’s earliest and most iconic pattern, Stem, to her print designs, encompassing the worlds of fashion, homewares and beyond.
Orla Kiely founded the self titled brand in 1995, developing her personal passion for mid-century design and print. Fast forward to 2018 and Kiely’s eponymous company has become a brand that embodies colour, pattern and just the right amount of whimsy. Expanding her offering into Ready-To-Wear, Orla Kiely’s collections have been worn by the famous faces of Kirsten Dunst, Keira Knightley, Alexa Chung, Lena Dunham and the Duchess of Cambridge no less!
If you’d like to put Orla’s pattern-leads-to-happiness theory to the test, BrandAlley are running a sale across Orla Kiely accessories, home and gifts this week. Shopping yourself happy never had a truer meaning!
