Why not swap your cocktail for some popcorn this weekend?
If you’re in the mood for trying something new, London is home to a whole host of stunning outdoor cinemas, where you can watch your favourite movies under the stars. Let us take you through some of our favourites!
The Luna Cinema – Various Locations
Offering a range of stunning locations – including Kensington Palace, Kew Gardens and Westminster Abbey – The Luna Cinema is one of London’s most popular. Throughout summer, it’s showing films like House of Gucci, Pretty Woman and Notting Hill, with some dates showing sing-along versions of kid-friendly Encanto and The Greatest Showman. You can view the full list of showings here.
Rooftop Film Club – Peckham/Stratford
With locations in Peckham and Stratford, the Rooftop Film Club offers a film with a view – and delicious street food to munch on! Grab one of the club’s summery cocktails and enjoy a rom-com or cult thriller. Did someone say date night?
Screen on the Canal – Kings Cross
This FREE “open-air film festival” sits on Granary Square in Kings Cross. Presented by the experts at Everyman, Screen on The Canal shows everything from action-packed blockbusters to family favourites. Be quick, though – it’s only available until 7th August!
Summer Screens – Canary Wharf
Looking for somewhere a little more East? Head straight to Summer Screens at Canada Square Park or Union Square. As well as showing some of the most exciting matches and games, Summer Screens saves a range of dates for movies like Dirty Dancing, Step Up and Dreamgirls. If you’re looking to take the kids, they have films for them, too – think Shark Tale, The Incredibles and The Princess & The Frog.
Adventure Cinema – Beckenham
Open from 19th-21st August, the Adventure Cinema in Beckenham Place Park is ideal for family fun. One of our more “child friendly” outdoor cinemas, it will be showing Mamma Mia!, Westside Story and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Although the organisers encourage picnics, there’s also a selection of delicious pizzas available to enjoy while you watch.
We hope this article gave you some outdoor cin-spiration! Stay tuned for more things to do in summertime in London.
