It’s the second week in January and everyone is (reluctantly) back to the grind working their first full week of 2013. But the blogosphere has kept us positive and ready to try new things with bloggers posting about all their Christmas goods and the looks to try for 2013. With so many amazing posts, it was really hard to pick our favourites, but this week the nail posts caught our eye. It’s a new year, so why not try out new nails?
If you’ve made any beauty resolutions this year – brilliant, but for those who haven’t Beautylish blog has some exciting beauty looks to try. It’s clichéd but when is a better time than the New Year to try new things? Here at BrandAlley HQ, we’ve been sporting the almond shaped nails in neutral colours but 2013 is all about jazzing them up and this is the shape to keep. Check out these fab nails we saw on Beautylish’s blog from Ghee R. Texture and opulence is big news for the coming year’s nail trends so go big and bold for the most up-to-date manis in town.
Beauty Boxes were hugely popular in 2012 and The Sunday Girl blog predicts 2013 will see the launch of Nail Beauty Boxes in the UK (of course the US already has these nailed *excuse the pun*). Beauty departments and stores send out monthly boxes with the latest and greatest products around for their subscribers to test. It’s a great way to see what’s new and find products you love without spending too much. As The Sunday Girl blog asks, is nail by mail the new craze? The girls in the BrandAlley office would love this as we’re constantly showing off our new nail art and manicures and getting new pieces monthly would be a fab idea. A beauty box specifically to nails seems to be really popular with The Sunday Girl’s blog readers too so let’s hope Model’s Own, Essie, OPI and the likes start!
Lily from What I heart today blog post had a novel advent calendar this Christmas. While we were all opening the days and chomping on chocolate, Lily was unwrapping amazing new Ciaté nail polishes each day (we’re insanely jealous now, what a fabulous idea and she’s got something she can use again!). It’s also a great way to experiment with new colours that you may not have picked up before and to play around with Caviar Pearls which are fiddly but look sensational.
We’ll definitely be adding the Ciaté advent calendar to our list for next year and our manicures for 2013 are bound to be bigger, more ornate and more of a spectacle than 2012. Afterall, they’re an accessory you have with you at all times, so shouldn’t they be the best they possible can? Let us know what beauty trends you’ll be trying below.
Have a fabulous weekend!
