Alexander McQueen
An icon of the British fashion industry, Alexander McQueen’s name is world renowned. His seminal designs changed the landscape and introduced an element of escapism into the industry.
After studying at Central Saint Martins in London, McQueen worked for Givenchy and overhauled it into a label of its time, winning British Designer of the Year in 1996, 1997 and 2001. Following this prized tenure at Givenchy, French house Gucci made a stake in McQueen’s eponymous namesake label, enabling him to focus all his energy and creativity on the brand.
With his creativity finally able to flow unconstrained and so founded his very own self titled label, McQueen was declared International Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
McQueen’s ingenious and visionary direction changed the path of men’s fashion. His infamous skulls, rock ‘n’ roll sensibility and bold styles are signatory of his vision. From bomber jackets to exquisitely elaborate prints and textures, McQueen changed the way men can dress.
Now spearheaded by longtime co-designer Sarah Burton, the amazing, ingenious designs of Alexander McQueen live on to this day with the iconic label still very much a menswear designer force to be reckoned with.
