5 Market Place, South Shields is where it all started for Barbour. The world-renowned British heritage band was founded by John Barbour in 1894 and remains with the family, close to its roots in the North where it all started all those years ago.

The brand is an international hit which is renowned for its waxed jackets which are still made by hand in South Shield, just as they were in 1894. Broadening out from Barbour’s countrywear roots, today the heritage and lifestyle clothing brand produces clothing that is designed for a full lifestyle wardrobe. The prestigious company has been given the royal seal of approval with and has received three Royal Warrants for “waterproof and protective clothing” from Her Majesty The Queen, H.R.H The Duke of Edinburgh & H.R.H The Price of Wales.
