Vickers Armstrongs

Vickers Armstrongs was founded in 1927, but the Vickers name boasts a heritage that stretches much farther back than that, beginning in Sheffield in 1828. After merging with Sir W G Armstrong Whitworth & Company, it became a British engineering conglomerate that quickly established itself as an institution across the country and the globe.
Famously, Vickers Armstrong was the most prominent Aircraft and Shipbuilder in the UK. This alone makes it an outstanding element of British history. It possessed numerous naval yards on both coasts of Britain, solidifying its influence from East to West, an inspiration to many of our timepieces.
As the nation shifted into the mid-20th Century, Vickers Armstrong became renowned for its military aircraft. Its engineers showed nuance and innovation, developing both traditional planes and unique models to give the Allies the edge during World War II.
Although Vickers Armstrong as it was known was nationalised in 1977, just 50 years after its formation, its influence still pulsates through the engineering industry. Reborn as a watch brand, the heritage of Vickers Armstrong is celebrated with timepieces that are hand assembled with high precision movement and boast a highly engineered and industrial design that captures the essence of the Vickers Armstrongs company and reminds us that the past can always lend a hand to inspiration for the present.
