Halston Heritage
Close friend of Andy Warhol, Roy Halston Frowick was a regular at seventies nightclub Studio 54. His friendship with the A-List and his ability to dress them to perfection made Halston a label that defined a decade. Discover the legacy with Halston Heritage.
Founded back in the sixties, Halston single-handedly brought luxury fashion to America; an art form that had previously existed only in Europe. Starting out in millinery (hats), Halston soon moved on to ready-to-wear, using jersey, cashmere and suede to great effect on jumpsuits, shirtdresses and kaftans.
At one with the pop culture of his time, Halston’s clients and friends included Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor and Anjelica Huston. His glamorous designs were so significant that his silhouettes and interpretations of the trends of the day are still fodder for fancy dress today as representation of the nineteen-seventies as a whole.
His use of ultrasuede, an artificial substitute for suede leather, allowed him to do things with the material that were hitherto impossible.
Years after the designer’s death, HALSTON continues under the guise of Halston Heritage, which produces fabulous tops, dresses, jumpsuits, shoes and more, all imbued with that same slick personality that made the brand so popular four decades ago.
